Biographical notes:
Chapter 184 of the Laws of 1863 and Chapter 29 of the Laws of 1865 authorized the payment of bounty monies by the state. This register was most likely compiled by the Paymaster General's Office on February 28, 1865 directed this office to supervise the payment of bounty claims. Further filing procedures were outlined by the Paymaster General in Circular No. 1 issued on March 1, 1865.

The payment of these bounties was authorized by Chapter 184 of the Laws of 1863 and Chapter 29 of the Laws of 1865. Filing procedures were outlined in General Order No. 6 issued by the Adjutant-General's Office on February 28, 1865 and Circular No. 1 issued by the Paymaster General on March 1, 1865.
