Other offices held include South Carolina Constitutional Convention, 1895; State Superintendent of Education, 1899-1903; South Carolina House of Representatives, 1909-1910, 1915-1916; Insurance Commissioner, 1921-1928; editor, "The People (McMahan's Magazine)."
