Biographical notes:

Reverend David E. Blaine (1824-1900) was an authority for the Methodist Episcopal Church in Seattle, Washington (1853-1856), and in Oregon: in Portland (1856), Oregon City (1856-1859) and Lebanon (1859-1862). He also ministered in New York and Pennsylvania (1873-1882).

David Edwards Blaine (1824-1900), minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Seattle, 1853-1856, taught the first school in Seattle. After the 1856 Indian uprising, he moved to Portland and later Oregon City.

Catherine Palmer Blaine, David's wife, taught school in Seattle and moved with her husband to Oregon.
