Biographical notes:
Richard A. Calkins (1898-1961) was an Indianapolis insurance agent and executive. After working in advertising, Calkins went into insurance in 1930. In 1949 he founded Disability Income Insurance Company. In 1959 it was sold to the Indianapolis-based Associates Life Insurance Company.
