Biographical notes:

A 1976 Mellon Fellow, Fineman received his B.A. in English from the University of California, Berkeley and later returned as an assistant professor of English after having taught in New York and Israel. He is perhaps best known for his book "Shakespeare's Perjured Eye: The Imagination of Poetic Subjectivity in the Sonnets."
