Leverett Samuel Lyon (1885-1959) was a lawyer, economist and business executive. From 1916-1929 he taught economics at several universities, including the University of Chicago, Washington University and the Robert Brookings Graduate School of Economics and Government. He joined the Brookings Institutution in 1929 and was its executive vice-president from 1932-1939. Lyon was chief executive officer of the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry from 1939-1954, served on the Chicago Home Rule Commission from 1953-1955 and was active in various regional and national associations.
