Caleb E. Summerhays was born in 1871, in Salt Lake City. He served a mission in Samoa in 1892. After which he married Ellen Louise Barrett on 9 Nov. 1893. He latter married Thekla Schaerr on 28 Aug. 1946. Summerhays died on 25 Nov. 1969.

Summerhays was set apart for mission, 22 October 1907. He returned to Salt Lake City in January 1910.
