Biographical notes:

Clement H. Beaulieu, Jr. was an Episcopal clergyman whose father was a Lake Superior fur trader. In his notes, Beaulieu suggests meanings for some of the unique symbols and discusses some common Indian trade items mentioned in the ledgers.
