Geraldine Kemmis Martin was a nurse and an assistant to Dr. Harvey Cushing during World War I in 1915 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Martin previously worked with Cushing at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and was later asked by Cushing to organize the operating room of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston, Mass.
