Biographical notes:

Born in Portland, Oregon, Margot Austin began her education at St. Mary's Academy in Portland which lead her to the National Academy of Design and Grand Central School of Art, both in New York City. Here in the northeast, she established a career out of writing and illustrating children's literature, with her first self-illustrated book being published in 1939. Between 1938 and 1963, Austin contributed over 27 pieces of work to the repertoire of children's books, including titles Gabriel Churchkitten, Poppet, The Three Silly Kittens and Cousin's Treasure .
