American artist, son of Portland, Me., sculptor Edward Griffin.

He studied at the Boston Museum of Art, the Art Student's League of New York, and in Paris under R. Collins and Jean Paul Laurens. Most of his adult life was spent in France painting landscapes and portraits, although he did maintain a summer house in Stroudwater, Me., for many years. He was a member of the National Academy of Design.
