Association for Children of New Jersey
Biographical notes:
The Association for Children of New Jersey (Essex County) was formed by a merger of the Child Service Association (CSA) and the Citizens Committee for Children of New Jersey (CCCNJ) in 1978. Eight child welfare organizations, orphanages, and foster home facilities, in Newark, were predecessors to the CSA and the CCCNJ: Newark Home for Foster Care, Newark Orphan Asylum, Protestant Foster Home Society, Boys' Lodging House, Foster Home Auxiliary Society, Home for the Friendless, Children's Aid Society and Society for the Preservation of Cruelty to Children, and the Child Service Association.
