Biographical notes:
Norman Alexander Ross (1922-2008) was a Chicago radio and television personality during the 1950s and 1960s, primarily at ABC affiliate WBKB-TV (later WLS-TV), and on WGN-AM and WFMT-FM radio stations. Ross conducted interviews, offered commentary, and played music on programs including "Off the Cuff," "This is the Day," and "Tunes from Talman." Ross also wrote for the Chicago Daily News (1955-1968). From the late 1960s until 1986, Ross worked as director of public affairs for First National Bank of Chicago. He returned to WLS-TV from 1989-2001. Ross was active in numerous civic organizations, including Chicago United, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Children's Memorial Hospital. Ross' father, Norman Ross, Sr., was also a Chicago radio personality on NBC affiliate WMAQ-AM; his son took over the broadcast upon his death.
