Biographical notes:
Chester directed an oral history project, funded by the New England School of Law and a Radcliffe Research Support grant, on the history of women's access to legal professions. He and his staff interviewed women who had earned law degrees between 1920 and 1940 form Portia Law School (later New England School of Law), Boston University Law School, George Washington University Law School, American University Law School, and Chicago-Kent Law School.
