Biographical notes:

The Central European History journal was started in 1968 by the Conference Group for Central European History of the American Historical Association to provide scholars of German and central European history a specialized academic journal following the cessation of publication of a similar journal in 1963. Emory University assumed financial and administrative responsbilities for the journal with Professor of History Douglas A. Unfug as editor. Dr. Unfug resigned as the journal's editor in 1990 and the journal, at which point Emory no longer supported the editing and publication of the journal and these duties was transferred elsewhere.
