Biographical notes:
Chauncey N. Pond was born in Medina County, Ohio in 1841. He graduated from Oberlin College in 1864 and the same year married Harriet Perkins. The Ponds had three children. Pond was ordained a Congregational minister in 1866. He held pastorates at Medina (1866-70), Berea (1873-75), Wauseon (1876-77), and North Bloomfield (1894-1906), Ohio. He also held posts with the American Sunday School Union, the Ohio Conference of Charities and Corrections, and the Industrial Missionary Association of Alabama. A frequent traveler, lecturer, and writer, he died in Oberlin at age 79 in 1920.
