Nadler, Josef, 188-1963.
Biographical notes:
German author and professor of history of literature. He was born in 1884 and died in 1963. Nadler was one of the central figures in the scholarship of the literature of Germanic peoples in Central and eastern Europe. "Nadler's edition of his writings, Johann Georg Hamann: Werke, 6 vol. (1949-1957), coupled with the rise of Christian existentialism, did much to revive interest in Hamann, whose cryptic and paradoxical style long delayed appreciation of his influence on German literature, on religious thought, and on such philosophers as Schelling, Hegel, and Kierkegaard."
