The 57th Indiana Volunteer Regiment was organized at Richmond, Ind. It served in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas, where it was stationed at Port Lavaca. William W. Beauchamp was a substitute who served from November 11, 1864 to November 11, 1865.

The 57th Indiana Infantry Regiment was mustered in November, 1861, at Richmond, Ind. It saw duty in Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana before being mustered out in July, 1865. Commanding colonels included McMullen, Hines, Lennard, Blanch, and McGraw.
