Biographical notes:

Jane Perry Clark Carey was born in Washington, D.C., in 1898. She was educated at Vassar College, receiving her master's and doctorate from Columbia University. Carey studied political science and was a professor at Barnard College. Her major contribution to the field was a book entitled, The Rise of a New Federalism. Because of her interest in refugees and population movement, Carey worked for the government in the years following World War II. She was married to Andrew Galbraith Carey, also a political scientist. They had no children. Jane Clark Carey died on October 24, 1981, in New York City.
