Parsippany Presbyterian Church (N.J.)
Biographical notes:
Organized at Parsippany, Morris County, New Jersey, in 1755 as the Parish of Parsippany, one of two churches formed that year as successors to the Parish Church on the Whippanong River (founded ca. 1718), a Morris County church located at Whippany; changed its name to Second Presbyterian Congregation in Hanover in 1828 and erected a new meeting house (its third) the same year; in 1858 some of the congregation withdrew to form First Presbyterian Church of Parsippany (which existed for about ten years before its membership merged back into the parent organization); adopted the name Parsippany Presbyterian Church in 1914.
