The USANC's Office of Latin American Interests took over the functions performed previously by the National Lutheran Council-Division of Lutheran World Federation Affairs' Department of Lutheran Cooperation in Latin America. One of the Office's main duties was to screen budget requests and suggest allocations to the LWF's Commission on Latin America; and be a liaison with staff of Lutheran World Relief, the Department of Spanish Publications of the Lutheran Council in the U.S.A., and with the Latin American Department of the Division of Overseas Ministries of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.
