Biography
Nava was born on September 16, 1954 in Stockton, California; grew up in Sacramento, California; BA, Colorado College, 1976; JD, Stanford University, 1981; moved with lover Bill Weinberger to Los Angeles, and became deputy city attorney, City of Los Angeles, 1981-84; private law practice in Los Angeles, 1984-86; research attorney with California Court of Appeal, Los Angeles, 1986-95; private law practice in San Francisco beginning in 1995; publications include The Little Death (1986), Goldenboy (1988), Finale (1989), How Town (1990), The Hidden Law (1992), Created Equal: Why Gay Rights Matter to America (1994), The Death of Friends (1996), and The Burning Plain (1997).
