John Z. Bowers was a physician, educator, author and an expert on medicine and medical education in Japan and China. Bowers served as deputy director of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in Washington, D.C. (1947-1950), the President of the Macy Foundation (1965-1980), and was associated with the Rockefeller Foundation.
