Biographical notes:

Lyman Maynard (1801-1862) was a descendant of John Maynard, early proprietor of Marlborough, Mass. He was born in Shrewsbury, Mass., and entered the Universalist ministry prior to 1824. In 1831, he joined a group that formed the Mass. Association of Restorationists, preaching to Unitarian societies. He ministered in numerous towns, including Medway, Oxford, Hingham, and Needham, Mass., and Winchester and Amherst, N.H. Eventually, he left the Universalist ministry and established a grocery trade in Milford, Mass. In 1854, he was commissioned as a Justice of the Peace and served also as a special justice of the Milford police court. Maynard died in Milford in 1862.
