Cordes, John, 1718-1756.
Biographical notes:
St. John's Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina plantation owner and South Carolina Representative. John Cordes married Catharine Cordes (daughter of Henrietta Catherine Gendron and Thomas Cordes). Their children were: Catharine (1745-1832, who in 1766 married Samuel Prioleau), John (1749-1798), Charles, Thomas (1753-1806), Mary, and Ellinor (who married Theodore Gaillard (1737-1805, a plantation owner and S.C. Representative). Thomas (1753-1806) was a S.C. Representative who lived on Yaughan Plantation in St. Stephen's Parish (S.C.), a tract of land given to him by his brother John (1749-1798).
