Nancy Harvey Steorts (1936- ) is an American consumer advocate and government official, and an international expert on consumer safety. A graduate of Syracuse University, Steorts served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture for Consumer Affairs during the Nixon and Ford Administrations, Chairman of CPSC's National Advisory Committee on Flammable Fabrics, and Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission during the Reagan administration.

Nancy Harvey Steorts was born in 1936 in Syracuse, New York. 1959, received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Syracuse University. 1971-1972 Assistant National Director of Volunteers and the National Director of the Women's Speakers Bureau for the campaign to re-elect Richard M. Nixon; 1972-1973, Director of Candlelight Dinners for inauguration of Richard M. Nixon; 1973-1977, Special Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture for Consumer Affairs; 1978-1980, consumer representative on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's National Advisory Committee on Flammable Fabrics; 1980-1981, consultant to Virginia H. Knauer, Special Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Consumer Affairs; 1981-1985, Chairman of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission; 1985-1987, President of Dallas Citizens Council; businesswoman.
