John Robert Pryse, also known as Golyddan.

Biographical notes:

John Robert Pryse, also known as Golyddan, was the son of Gweirydd ap Rhys. He was born in 1840 and educated at Llanrhuddlad British School, Anglesey. In 1860 he went to Edinburgh University where he won two prizes and gained the highest M.D. examination results. He died in 1862 of tuberculosis. His ambition was to compose an epic poem in the style of Milton.
