Johnny Muise immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Mary (née Edmonds) Muise was born in Boston. Mary Muise played the piano and Johnny Muise the "clappers." Janine (Muise) Randall is a pianist and Boston College alumna, and Johnny and Mary Muise are her parents.
