Ephraim Mikell Whaley was a planter of Ashwood Plantation, Edisto Island, Colleton County, S.C.; graduate of Princeton College, 1846, and Harvard Law School, 1847; delegate to Convention of Southern Rights Associations, 1852; husband of Abigail Mikell Baynard (1839-1905).
