Biographical notes:
Marilyn Kemp Weidner is a noted conservator of works of art on paper. She was born in Floral Park, New York, on January 10, 1928, the daughter of Winifred Simpson and Arthur Kemp. In the early 1970s, Marilyn Weidner started the conservation program in Cooperstown, New York. . In 1977 she started the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), a non-profit laboratory which provided conservation services to small museums. . Mrs. Weidner left the CCAHA in 1984 and returned to private practice. During all these years, she lectured and wrote about art conservation and taught conservators how to properly use the moisture chamber/suction table, which she had invented. Marilyn Weidner is an honorary Fellow of the IIC (International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works), a member of the Washington Conservation Guild, and a Fellow and honorary member of the AIC (American Institute for Conservation).
