Uwchlan Monthly Meeting (Society of Friends)
Biographical notes:
Uwchlan Monthly Meeting was established in 1763 by Chester [Concord] Quarterly Meeting out of Goshen Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Uwchlan Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) merged with Bradford Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) in 1883 to form Bradford & Uwchlan Monthly Meeting. This meeting was discontinued in 1901. Uwchlan Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) removed to Downingtown from Lionville in 1900. This meeting was the forerunner of the current Uwchlan Monthly Meeting.
