Biographical notes:
Emma J. Harvat, first woman mayor of Iowa City, Iowa (1922-1925), was also a prominent business woman with diverse business interests. She was senior member of Harvat and Stach, then Iowa City's largest women's clothing store, which she owned with her business partner, May Stach.
