Manus McCloskey (b. April 24, 1874, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-d. 1963), Brigadier General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1898. He served in Cuba, the Philippines, and China. He organized the 12th Regiment Field Artillery and commanded the regiment in key battles during World War I. Following the War, General McCloskey commanded the 11th Field Artillery in Hawaii and organized and administered the Civilian Conservation Corps in North Carolina. This decorated officer became superintendent of the Cook County Hospital in Chicago following his retirement in 1938.
