Biographical notes:

William Williams, Jr., was born in 1688 in Hatfield, Mass., the son of the Reverend William and Eliza Cotton Williams. A 1705 graduate of Harvard College, he settled in Weston, Mass., in 1708 and served as minister there until 1750 when he was dismissed on charges of lascivious and immoral conduct. During his ministerial career he had speculated in land and after his dismissal he devoted himself, not too successfully, to his land investments. His first wife was a daughter of Solomon Stoddard (1643-1728/29). He died in Weston in 1760.
