Biographical notes:

There were five expeditions led by Arthur S. Vernay and John C. Faunthorpe to India and Southeast Asia to collect specimens for the Hall of South Asiatic Mammals. The first expedition was the Faunthorpe Indian Expedition, 1923 (later Faunthorpe-Vernay Expedition). The others had no official names and were generally referred to as Faunthorpe-Vernay Expeditions.
