Biographical notes:
Margaret Jones Gibbs Theus (d. 1995), a resident of Columbia, S.C., was the wife of Dr. Walter W. Theus; graduated from University of South Carolina with a master's degree in English and education; she taught in the S.C. Counties of Lexington, Florence, and Richland; published "Southern Spirit," a community heritage handbook for teachers, and "'Round Hopkins," for which she was received the Instructional Excellence Award in 1979.
Theus was a charter member of the board of visitors of Columbia College; born in Florence, she was a daughter of Margaret "Maggie" Dennis Jones and James Elihu Jones.
