The Compania Industrial Sevilla, S.A. was organized on April 27, 1943 to produce ethyl alcohol from either blackstrap molasses or invert molasses. Originally conceived as a wartime effort to relieve fuel shortages, the distillery continued to operate in the postswar period. In 1952, the company was dissolved and the distillery became the Sevilla Division of the Francisco Sugar Company.
