Pomeroy, Lemuel.

Biographical notes:

Lemuel Pomeroy had considerable investments in textile mills in the Pittsfield area. Simon N. Dexter was a merchant, banker, Erie Canal commissioner and cotton and wool manufacturer. The Oriskany Manufacturing Co. was originally known as the Oriskany Manufacturing Society. It was established in 1811 by the investors of the Oneida Manufacturing Society (the first successful cotton factory in the state of New York) to manufacture woolen goods. Its name was changed in 1815.

Whitesborough, N.Y. is a village of Whitestown township.
