Biographical notes:
Susie Young was born Susie Newcomb on February 11, 1843 in Quincy, Massachusetts. She married Micajah Young on April 16, 1873. Micajah was born on May 19, 1836 in Orleans, Massachusetts. Because Micajah was a sailor many entries in the diary mention her loneliness when he was away at sea.
