Louise Pound was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, June 30, 1872. She earned a B.A. in 1892 and a M.A. in 1895 from the University of Nebraska. She matriculated at Heidelberg University where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in 1900. Upon her return to Nebraska, Pound taught in the English Department at the University of Nebraska, and did not retire from teaching until 1945. Pound died in Lincoln on June 28, 1958.
