Composed ca. December 1777 to celebrate the defeat of British General Burgoyne by the American forces at Saratoga, New York on 7 October 1777. Ms. which served as a basis for this edition is in the American Philosophical Society Library in Philadelphia. The work is also known as the Saratoga victory march.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
