Biographical notes:

Forum for interdisciplinary, professional discussion, presentation, and promotion of research in the areas of communication, language, and gender. The OSCLG was created in 1978 at Bowling Green State University as a forum for interdisciplinary, professional discussion, presentation, and promotion of research in the areas of communication, language, and gender. Annual conferences, which are held at different universities each year from 1978, provide the forum for such activity. OSCLG's first president, Linda A.M. Perry, Ph. D., was appointed in 1988. The organization is governed by an executive committee consisting of present and past officers, conference directors, and elected members. In 1991, the journal Women & Language became affiliated with OSCLG. The publication, from the Communications Department at George Mason University, serves as a feminist arena for the discussion of communication, language, and gender. OSCLG also publishes its own newsletter.
