Biographical notes:
Samuel Dougan Bird, surgeon, lectured in Medicine at the University of Melbourne from 1870-1887. His son Frederic Dougan Bird, also a surgeon, demonstrated in anatomy (1884-1887) and lectured in surgery (1896-1920) at Melbourne University.
