Lawyer. Born New Gloucester, Me. Practiced law in Bangor and Gardiner, Me. (1829-1836). Practiced law in Boston after 1836. President, Northern Railroad of New York (1849-1853). United States assistant treasurer for Boston (1863-1868). Instrumental in establishing the Brookline (Mass.) Public Library in 1857.
