Jack Donald Foner (1910-1999) was an American historian best known for writing histories of the labor movement and the struggle for civil rights. Philip S. Foner (1910–1994) was a Marxist labor historian and teacher, best remembered for his 10-volume History of the Labor Movement in the United States. Max Yergan (1892-1975) was an African American activist, once a Communist and leader of the National Negro Congress, the International Committee on African Affairs in 1937, later the Council on African Affairs, but later became an anti-Communist.
