Raguet Family
Biographical notes:
Henry Raguet (1796-1877), a Pennsylvania native, came to Texas in 1833, operating a mercantile business in Nacogdoches and engaging in land transactions. Following his retirement, two of his eight children, Henry W. Raguet (1824-1862) and Charles M. Raguet (1832-1903), continued in the family business. Charles M. Raguet was married to Isabel (Belle) Edwards (d. 1926), the daughter of Haden H. Edwards. Another son, James Condy Raguet (1822-1868), was also associated with some of his father's business dealings.
The Raguet family also had close business and personal ties with the Thorn family. A daughter of Henry Raguet, Augusta Amelia, married Leonard Mortimer Thorn (d. 1909), and Raguet had business dealings with Frost Thorn (1793-1854). Frost Thorn was married to Susan W. Edwards (1800-1891), who, after her first husband's death, married his nephew, James F. Thorn (d. 1876).
