Biographical notes:

Family of Barent Sanders (1678-1757) and Maria Wendell Sanders (1685-1738), early settlers of Albany, New York. Barent and his sons John of Schenectady, New York, and Robert, were involved in the fur trade and were prominent merchants and landowners in their respective communities. Barent and Robert additionally served as local Albany officials in various capacities, and Robert was appointed mayor of Albany in 1750.
