Natalii︠a︡ Sergeevna Goncharova attended the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1901-1909), where she studied sculpture. Goncharova was one of the organizers of the first Jack of Diamonds exhibition (1910) and of the later Donkey Tail exhibition (1912), among others. In 1914 Goncharova visited Paris to make designs for Diaghilev's production of Le coq d'or, featuring choreography by Michel Fokine. After her move to Paris in 1919, she continued to work with him until his death in 1929.
