Beazley was a professor of history at the University of Birmingham from 1909-1933. During the First World War he lectured soldiers in France for the Young Men's Christian Association. He gave a total of 20 lectures in 1918 and, with hostilities over, followed this in 1919 with a series of lectures to French universities. He also presented a series of papers on Poland, Romania, Albania and the Ottoman Empire, as well as essays on the "German Imperial Idea" and German-British Relations since 1870.
