Troy Kinney was an American artist and writer on dance, noted for his etchings and his treatise The Dance, Its Place in Art and Life (1924), co-written with his wife Margaret West Kinney.
Kinney was born December 1, 1871 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the School of Fine Arts at Yale. In 1900, he married Margaret West. He contributed articles on dance to magazines such as Century, Metropolitan, and New Republic during his career. Kinney died in 1938.
